The Texas Auto Writer's Association (TAWA) hosted the Texas Auto Roundup this past weekend at the famous Texas Motor Speedway. The annual event draws more than 60 automotive journalists to test drive more than 50 of the industry's newest vehicles in 17 categories.
Mazda's iconic roadster, the MX-5 Miata faced tough competition in the hotly contested Performance Compact category. However, thanks to its full suite of SKYACTIV Technology, and stylish KODO--Soul of Motion aesthetic, it was able to pull away with a victory, beating out offerings from Germany and Italy.
“The Mazda MX-5’s combination of exterior, interior finish, delightful performance and overall appeal equated to one of the highest scoring vehicles in any category in this year’s Roundup, and just short of the overall Car of Texas award. To say the journalists were impressed is an understatement,” said Nic Phillips, TAWA president. “Given the competitive class, let alone the entire field, everyone at Mazda has a right to be proud. Not only that, our journalists also gave it the highest value score of any car at the event.”
